Question time

How far do you think God will go to get our attention?

Will he physically hurt us to make us see things? Will he kill someone close to us for us to see him? Will he take everything from us?

How far will God go to bring back his children?

think of it this way. How far would God let the devil go with us, so that come back to him (God). I think the devil is one of God's tools. I don't think God would kill someone, or hurt us, to get our attention. He has satan for that. Look at Job.

yes. He goes far-because the question is, "even if i don't help you-even if you have nothing, is what my Son did enough?"

i hate to use the word allow, but for all intensive purposes He seems to allow certain things to happen.

look at me K! He told me to do something over two years ago, and due to disobedience, stripped everything we owned-our whole lives have been turned upside down. we essentially own nothing-and while in the middle of it, it's so ugly, so disgusting-and then He said to me, He wishes to rebuild us. How amazing! how fortunate am i, that the most High God, is going to take this awful circumstance, in which Michael and i make choices that the world thinks are nuts, into something brilliant! we both have forfeited high salry positions to do what He told us-we have moved (FINALLY) to wher He said we would be years ago-and i swear it's amazing! He is allowing us to be blessed with things i could have never comprehended were worth more than money! our very youth is being restored, our concept of family and community of friendship and love. it's kooky!

in other words-He goes far, muffin. very very far! there are so many awful things from my youth, and while i don't feel He made them happen, i would never have known HIm as i do today, i would never have been spared the flames of hell without each of those things molding me to this exact moment.

i'm super stoked. God rocks...and you my little love muffin, have started to pay attention-He's not going to allow you to be hurt in the same degree of others, but i think He will illuminate himself in these instances, because you my dear, are going to know Him in a new way---that whole thing about trumpeting in a new generation-baby hold on! He's going to work wonders---Kallah Kallah bo ballah-trumpeting in, the voice of a new generation---

when i first read this post, i thought, 'holy crap, i don't even want to touch that one...' that said, this is my feeble attempt at something i don't completely 'get'. i agree that God is willing to go far in pursuing our hearts. after all, He died...

but i don't know that i believe that God causes all of the painful things we experience in order to teach us something. sometimes we're experiencing the consequences of our own actions. sometimes we're being attacked.

but God definitely uses everything... i don't think God said, 'I think it would be a great idea for joseph's brothers to toss him in a sewer, sell him into slavery, and tell their dad joseph was killed by wild animals.' but He used those experiences to shape joseph and to provide for the very brothers who betrayed him.

i believe God is sovereign. but He allows free will, which led to sin (which opened the door to bad things happening), which leads to us continuing to have the choice of right or wrong. i'm confused by it all at times. but i think the answer is within the tension between God's rule over the universe and free will among humans. crazy stuff...

hope that wasn't too long, confusing, or not what you were actually posting about. :)

My guess is...

As far as pleases him.
Yes.
Yes.
Yes.

Everything right up until the point where he removes our ability to not choose Him.

Peace,
Justin
